Get Trail-Ready: What to Bring for Your ATV Rental Adventure
If you’re planning an ATV ride with Northeast ATV Rentals, you’re in for an unforgettable day on the trails. Whether you’re riding for a few hours or heading out on a full-day adventure, showing up prepared will make your experience safer, more comfortable, and way more fun.
Here’s your go-to guide for what to wear and pack for your ATV ride in Gorham, NH or Rangeley, ME:
✅ What to Wear on Your ATV Ride
ATV riding is a blast — and it’s also dusty, muddy, and unpredictable (in the best way). Dress for comfort, protection, and the weather.
✔ Closed-Toe Shoes or Boots
Sturdy footwear is a must. We recommend waterproof hiking boots, trail shoes, or sneakers you don’t mind getting dirty.
✔ Layers on Top
New England weather changes quickly! Wear a moisture-wicking base layer and bring a light hoodie, fleece, or jacket depending on the forecast.
✔ Eye Protection
Eye Protection is required by state law to protect your eyes. Eye protection helps keep out dust, bugs, and wind — and ensures you’re riding safely and legally on the trails. Sunglasses, glasses, safety glasses, and goggles are all fine.
✔ Gloves (Optional)
ATV gloves improve grip and protect your hands from blisters and the elements.
✔ Rain Gear (If Weather Looks Iffy)
A lightweight rain jacket can make or break your day if a shower rolls through. We also sell rain ponchos on-site if you forget!
🎒 What to Pack for Your Ride
Depending on the length of your ride, you’ll want to bring a few essentials. We recommend storing them in a backpack or small dry bag.
✔ Driver’s License & Credit Card
You’ll need a valid driver’s license and the card used for your booking or damage deposit.
✔ Phone or Camera
There are epic views out there — don’t forget to capture them! (Just be sure to keep electronics sealed if it’s muddy or wet.)
✔ Water & Snacks
Staying hydrated is essential, especially on longer rides. Trail mix, granola bars, and jerky all make great on-the-go snacks. There’s plenty of space on the machines to bring a cooler or backpack, and we’re happy to lend you bungee cords to strap them down securely.
✔ Sunscreen & Bug Spray
Protect your skin from sunburn and keep the black flies at bay — this is Maine and New Hampshire, after all!
✔ Trail Map (Provided by Us)
We’ll set you up with a map and walk you through the best routes for your time frame.
🚨 What Not to Wear or Bring
- No flip-flops or open-toed shoes
- Don’t wear anything you wouldn’t want covered in mud or dust
- Leave valuables at home or secure them in your vehicle
Bonus Tips from the Trail
- Check the weather before your ride and dress accordingly.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty — you will be dusty and potentially muddy!
- Don’t forget a post-ride change of clothes or a towel if you’re heading to dinner or driving a long way afterward.
